Thrombocytopenia in Pregnancy: A Cross-Sectional Study in Northern Pakistan

Objective: To determine the association of thrombocytopenia (mild, moderate & severe) with pregnancy-related disorders.
 Study Design: Cross-sectional study.
 Place and Duration Study: Department Haematology Pakistan Railway Hospital, Rawalpindi Pakistan, in collaboration Departments Obstetrics Gynecology Pak Emirates Military Hospital Fuji Foundation from Oct 2018 to 2019.
 Methodology: Seventy-five pregnant females platelet count <150x109/l were included. Blood samples taken analyzed for complete blood count, peripheral smear, manual by Neubauer chamber, uric acid, urinary proteins, liver function tests (bilirubin aspartate aminotransferase), lactate dehydrogenase, coagulation profile viral serology (Hepatitis B C).
 Results: Out a total 75 thrombocytopenic females, gestational was most common (74.7%), followed preeclampsia (17.3%), HELLP syndrome (4%), immune purpura (4%) respectively. Mild frequently observed patients G.T. (62.5%), while (84.6%) generally detected patients. Severe mostly identified (66.7%) (66.7%).
 Conclusion: is presented thrombocytopenia. Moderate frequent preeclampsia, severe usually diagnosed purpura, which require apposite judicious management safety mother fetus.
